Parents FAQ

My Culminating Project is a private members only website that was created to support high school students pick a senior graduation topic.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How will this website help my teenager with the Culminating Project?

A. One of the biggest obstacles for students is deciding on a topic that is meaningful. Students can choose from a variety of topics. This can be overwhelming and some students give up before they even start. How frustrating.

MyCulminatingProject.com modules and members only forum helps students learn about themselves and help them to discover their natural leadership abilities. Once this is discovered, they can begin designing a project that will naturally bring them success.

This site offers a step-by-step approach so students have support to not only create their Culminating Project but they have the potential to discover a career path.

All of the modules are interactive multi-media (audio, video, interactive applied learning) so students can benefit from learning in different ways. After completing the basic modules, students have full access to the members only forum and they are supported every step of the way to finding a topic.

We invite students to participate in the free group coaching conversations in the member’s only forum. It doesn’t stop there! New information is always being added so students will continue learning.

Q. Won’t the school help my child with selecting their topic?

A. High schools do a terrific job in supporting students with the mechanics of the Culminating Project. This program is a step-by-step program to help students uncover their natural leadership abilities, their preferred way of learning, challenges and passions. ..and then use that information to be successful in picking a graduation topic that is meaningful to the student.

Q. Why only $9.95? What if I can’t afford the $9.95?

A. Every student should have the opportunity to learn about themselves, create a “life changing” project and to discover their life’s purpose. It breaks my heart to see students struggle or even worse drop out of high school because they don’t feel that they can satisfy this graduation requirement. That is why MyCulminatingProject.com is so affordable.

My Culminating Project .com is an “applied learning environment.” This is an educational experience. Many schools have funding to help students who might have trouble paying the tuition. Contact your student’s counselor or the school Culminating Project Coordinator to see what financial assistance is available.

Q. Can I cancel paying tuition at any time?

A. Yes, My Culminating Project.com tuition is set up through paypal on a monthly automatic debit from your bank or credit card. You can cancel at anytime. It is important to us that you have complete control over this process.

Q. What do topics like passion, success, etc., have to do with my child’s Culminating Project?

A. Students can construct a Culminating Project without these ingredients; however, the project becomes a major chore, is valuable time wasted, and many times fails to meet the standard passing score.

It is my opinion that these topics not only can help a student design a Culminating Project that literally changes their life, but has the potential to propel them into a career, college, military or whatever adventure they choose following high school.

Q. What are your credentials?

A. Michelle discovered the hard way how important pursuing your passion is to happiness. Michelle is a lifelong learner and measures success through personal happiness. She returned to school later in life and knows firsthand the importance of a high school diploma. Michelle is currently completing her culminating project.

Michelle is a PhD candidate at Walden University specializing in Industrial Organizational Psychology. She has a MS in Consulting Psychology from The California School of Professional Psychology (San Diego) and a BA in Applied Behavioral Science from The Leadership Institute of Seattle.

Michelle participates as a community member volunteer on as many panels as possible throughout the year. She writes a weekly newsletter “The Spotlight” specifically for schools, parents, and students to keep everybody updated on the latest and greatest news with the culminating project.

Michelle also writes articles that have been published in high school and academic association newsletters that are available on her blog at http://www.CulminatingProject.com

Q. What kind of help do you provide with the actual Culminating Project?

A. Student will discover their passion and connect that passion to a topic that can be used for the culminating project. In addition, there are interactive applied learning modules that will help support students through the journal writing, portfolio, and the presentation process too.

Q. This is just a high school requirement, why should my child go through all this just to complete the project?

A. Students work for 12 or more years getting to their senior year in high school. It is devastating for students to come this far and then fail to graduate with their class. Many give up and never return to earn their high school diploma.

This breaks my heart! Students who struggle with the Culminating Projects usually do so because they don’t see that this graduation project is an opportunity for them to shine.

If young people follow the steps to uncovering their natural leadership talents, they have the potential to create a project that not only “knocks the socks” off the community panel viewing their presentation, but they have the potential to open the door to their future. Personally, I can’t think of anything more important to the lives of young people.

Q. What other types of services do you provide?

A. MyCulminatingProject.com offers sequential basic learning modules to provide a journey of self-discovery for students. The site is an interactive multi-media (audio, video, interactive applied learning) learning environment that is designed for all types of learners.

Sample presentations are provided so students can see other successful projects. A private Student Forum allows students a platform where they can communicate with other students as they complete their project. Group coaching in the members only forum are also included to support students.

If students need one-on-one coaching please contact me and inquire about personal coaching availability.

Q. How will the information learned in these modules help my child after he leaves high school?

A. Depending on their unique passion, students have a clearer picture of what they need to do when they leave high school. This information will help them determine if a community, technical, or four-year university is needed to reach their dream.

Some students might become entrepreneurs and forge their own path to success. I see this journey of self-discovery as the key to a happy and a productive life.
