Can You Create a Service Announcement Video?

In New Jersey, high school students competed in a contest to create a public service announcement video directed toward warning other teens about the dangers of drunk driving.

The project has been a success in a number of ways.

  • Every year participation increases as more students from a variety of schools submit their videos.
  • More importantly, the message is getting out and teens are paying attention.

We know people are getting your message because Middlesex County has never had a prom-goer or graduate killed in an alcohol-related accident during the prom and graduation season, said O’Lone, a fatal accident investigator for the prosecutor’s office.

The winners are rewarded with free exposure when of these videos were distributed to local cable TV and radio stations.

For any teen looking for a senior project topic…this topic is a really great idea. Better yet… for group credit, if your school allows for group projects…you might consider creating a video with a public service announcement.
